I had the pleasure of road testing the Triumph Bandit for Australia's 'Two Wheels' magazine in 1984, and was enthralled by the little 350 (which I still feel should have been a 500). It handled beautifully - even with the square-section Avon SM rear tyre(?), and went like a genuine(350cc) rocket.Shame about the boofheaded British management, for it could have been an absolute blinder of a machine, for it blew off machines twice its size, through its great power-to-weight ratio, handling and stopping power. Had its faults, of course, but they would have been ironed our easily enough.. given the essential time and money..
